Exercise and Metabolism

Thursday, January 1st, 1970
Your metabolism refers to how many calories you burn during the day simply by living.
One of the problems with just eating less when you are trying to lose weight is that eating too little will simply lower your metabolism so that you will burn fewer calories during the day. This drastically decreases the effectiveness of lowering your caloric intake by eating less.
If you exercise you will burn calories while you exercise, but, even more importantly, your metabolism will increase and you will burn more calories throughout the day. This will make your diet much more effective.
There are two major types of exercise that are especially beneficial for weight loss, aerobic exercise and weight lifting.
Aerobic exercise is the most effective tool for weight loss. You burn calories while you are exercising, but you also burn calories afterwards because your metabolism remains raised for several days. Some examples of aerobic exercise include jogging, walking, biking, and swimming.
Weight lifting is also important for weight loss, but it is especially important for maintaining weight loss. Weight lifting burns calories while you are working out, but, more importantly, the added muscle that comes from weight lifting will increase your metabolism PERMANENTLY. Muscle will burn calories simply by being there. This makes it incredibly effective for maintaining weight loss. You can eat more food than before, but, if you have more muscle mass, you will burn more calories simply by living.

My Scale of Woe: Adventures in Weight Loss

Thursday, January 1st, 1970
The scale is not my friend. I got a surprise when I stepped on and found I'd gained over five pounds. In one week! Now how does that happen? I don't know all the answers but I do know I haven't done anything unusual so there's no logical reason. Because of that I'm not going to knock myself around or say, "I'm gonna start a diet on Monday," since it's most likely water weight that'll come off all

Z-Trim - Saves Fat & Provides Fiber

Thursday, January 1st, 1970
There are many things you can do to reduce the fat content in foods. Replacing some of the oil with applesauce is one. Z-Trim is a fiber product, derived from the hulls of corn, oats, soy, rice and barley. It starts as a powder and when mixed with water turns into a creamy texture that can then be used in foods to replace some of the oil or other fat. Now, at first glance this may not sound like

Hypnosis in One Day, Or Money Back

Thursday, January 1st, 1970
I saw an ad in the paper for a one-day hypnosis workshop. It said, "If you don't lose weight, we'll return your money at the end of the workshop." Okay, so how are you supposed to know if you lost weight when you've not been given a chance to go out in the real world and actually lose some? That's just ridiculous. Stop smoking in one session, sure, but lose weight in one session? Not likely.
